SCHOOL-BASED FEEDING PROGRAM (SBFP)

School Feeding

Program Coordinator

Merelle Joy F. Romaraog

The Department of Education (DepEd), through the health and Nutrition (HNC), and the Department of Social  Welfare and Development (DSWD), implemented the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) for School  Year 2014-2015 to address the undernutrition problem and short-term hunger among public school children.

The 120-day Feeding Program prioritizes severely wasted Kindergarten to Grade 6 pupils. The program may expand to cater pupils under wasted category, depending on the availability of funds and It (program) is expected to result in 85-100% classroom attendance and improve the pupil’s health and nutrition values and behavior. (DepEd Order No. 37. s 2014)

Penafrancia ES and the community are in partnership in the implementation of the program. Teachers, parents and others are working hand-hand, attending to the nutrition needs of 283 pupil beneficiaries on a daily basis since the feeding activities started last November 2014.

Given the number, the task looks daunting but it is made easier with the proper planning and coordination works done by concerned persons.
